Dennis MCAULEY BSc (Hons) OBE


Dennis McAuley has over 40 years experience as a forensic scientist/advisor engaged in the field of fire and explosion investigation. Most of his experience was gained at the Forensic Science Laboratory in Northern Ireland. He also spent over two years as Head of the Fire & Explosion Investigation Section at the Victoria Police Forensic Laboratory, Melbourne, Australia. He has examined more than 200 scenes of terrorist related explosions in Northern Ireland, including that of the Omagh bombing in 1998 in which 29 people were killed. In his role as an Expert Witness, Dennis has presented evidence at court proceedings in Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and Australia.

David NEVILLE


Inspector David Neville works at Queensland Police Service in Queensland, Australia. He holds a Master of Science degree in the filed of Forensic Science.  He has 25 years of experience as a forensic practitioner including crime scene examination, ballistics and quality management. He is currently the Quality Manager for the Forensic Services Group (FSG) of the Queensland Police Service where he is responsible for technical management and delivery of training

Florin STANCIU PhD


Florin Stanciu is a Forensic DNA Expert with a PhD in genetics and over 10 years of work experience in the field. His main activities are related to Romanian National DNA Database and he is in charge with the DNA data exchange, using Prum tools, Europol, Interpol and other communication channels. Florin Stanciu is also involved in genetic research of Romanian population and he published numerous scientific papers related to this subject.

Axel MANTHEI


Axel MANTHEI is a forensic scientist, firearm examiner and accomplished target shooter. He has an engineering degree in firearms design and ballistics from the HTBL Ferlach, Austria. He was employed as a research & development engineer with UMAREX for 6 years. Since 1988 he has worked as a Firearms Examiner in a large German Police Crime Laboratory, and has examined crime scenes in Europe, Asia and South America. He also owns his own company which produces the well-known Ammunition Database, CartWinPro. In 2007 he was awarded the title European Engineer (EUR ING) for his achievements by the European Federation of National Engineering Associations (FEANI). Axel is a Distinguished Member of the Association of Firearm and Toolmark Examiners (AFTE). He has presented numerous papers at AFTE (association of Toolmark and Firearm Examiners) and ENFSI (European Network of Forensic Science Institutes) conferences in the US and across Europe.

Prof. Caroline WILKINSON


Caroline has a background in art and science and her research and creative work sits at the forefront of art-science fusion and includes subjects as diverse as forensic art, human anatomy, medical art, face recognition, forensic science, anthropology, 3D visualisation, digital art and craniofacial identification. Caroline is Director of the Face Lab, a LJMU research group based in Liverpool Science Park. Her archaeological work includes facial depictions of Richard III, St Nicolas, J.S. Bach, Rameses II and Mary, Queen of Scots.

Dr. Rahul Pathak completed his medical qualification from India and then worked in the Dept. of Forensic Pathology at University Teaching Hospital in Lusaka Zambia (South East Africa). He is currently working as Senior Lecturer in Forensic Science in the Dept. of Biomedical and Forensic Sciences at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge, UK. He is the Course Leader for Post-graduate Forensic Science course and also the Admissions Tutor for Forensic and Investigative Sciences in this university. He is also actively involved in research and have been supervising undergraduate and post-graduate research projects. Also, he is a full member of the Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences UK, Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, Fellow of the Indian Association of Medico-legal Experts.
